Curt Love
Upright Bass
Curt Love, a multi-instrumentalist from North Carolina, fell in love with bluegrass at just three years old after attending a IIIrd Tyme Out concert. Though he first tried his hand at mandolin at age eight, it was the banjo that truly captured his attention. With guidance from Bill Simpson, a former banjo player for Bill Monroe, Curt honed his skills and quickly became immersed in the bluegrass community. A pivotal moment in his musical journey came when he connected with Gary and Sandy Hatley, who introduced him to festivals, jams, and the broader bluegrass world, eventually inviting him to perform with their family band, The Hatley Family. Over time, Curt expanded his instrumental abilities to include guitar and bass. After years of local performances and fill-in work, Curt is stepping into his first full-time bass role with The Junior Sisk Band—a dream gig for a lifelong fan of Junior’s music. As Curt puts it, “I never would’ve thought I’d get the chance to play with him. I’m excited to be a part of his newest configuration and can’t wait to start picking and traveling with all of them!”
